RosalieHi Michelle,
I had a hysterectomy in 1996. As I had never given birth to a child, I had to have an abdominal hysterectomy done. My ovaries were left intact. Exactly six weeks after having the surgery, I was due to commence a university course, I had to be better and I was.
Apart from the first week, where everything was painful, my biggest problem for about six months was my bladder. I think, if I remember correctly, they had to sew some of the other structures, (that would normally be attached to the uterus), to the bladder. As a result it was quite painful and took quite a bit of concentration to pass urine for a good while.
The only other thing I can say is, just keep in mind, that a hysterectomy is irrevocably permanent.
Take Care
Rosalie
