My son is 23 months.  I breast fed him for one week.  I stopped because he was put in the hospital at 7 days old due to weight loss.  He was actually near shock.  He became deathly ill before his screen came back.  He has really always slept ok.  Now for several months he wouldn’t take a nap unless i held him (from like 4 months-7 months).  So I just held him.  Perhaps your child is hungry, do you give her rice cereal.  I didnt give carter any until he was 6 months.  I think that some babies require more food.  However, I dont think i could let the child cry; I know lots of parents do, and I’m sure it doesnt harm the baby, but I couldnt.  Does the baby sleep with you?  You may try cosleeping which I never did until Carter was a year for fear of rolling over on him.  Now he insists on sleeping in his bed in his room which is great.  I hope you find an answer.
