Books & Better nt

Rebecca, the books (which my husband got me from Barnes & Noble, but I’m sure you could get almost anywhere) are "Healthy Sleep Habit, Happy Child" (title makes me laugh because even w/the sleep problems, Danny is always happy).  The author is Marc Weissbluth, M.D.  The other book by Richard Ferber, M.D.  is called "Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems."  I checked the archives on this site and saw others talking about the "Ferber method" back in 1999. Actually both books are fairly similar in the approach about crying it out, but Weissbluth is a little harsher in that he doesn’t have you go in and soothe the baby.  I’m trying a middle ground, keeping in mind Ferber’s point that there I was always answering his cries at night and now nothing! I think that’s too scary. Last night was much better-he fell asleep nursing & woke right before medicine time.  Unfortunately, he couldn’t fall asleep after, so it took an hour (UGH!) to cry but that’s 30% better than the night before!  He then slept all the way from 11pm to 5am!! Then nursed and then back asleep til 7am. YEAH!!!  Thanks Anne-Marie also for providing the experience of being parent to a CAH child & non-CAH.  Those perspectives always help because it reminds me again, this is just a "normal" childhood issue and as Danny Carlton mentioned with the title/banner & photos, the child is in front of the CAH, it doesn’t rule them!! :)
