Thanks Chris!  The night nursing is a familiar story to me!  He was waking every hour almost for nursing.  I lnow also that nursing will instantly put him to sleep, but I’m really trying to work on that so he can learn to put himself to sleep. I’m carefully watching when he’s eating to be sure he’s not hungry in the night (just the fact he falls asleep almost instantly if he nurses at night makes me pretty sure he’s not).  I also thought about the hunger part Carrie pointed out regarding am when he doesn’t want to take a nap -I usually only nurse in the am, but since solids seem to hold him better, I might change that around a bit.  Although the authors of those books would disagree. :)

I think we too just ended up with a little one who doesn’t sleep much.  If I can just get him to sleep well at night, I won’t even worry so much about "scheduled" naps.  My main concern was that we weren’t physically affecting his stress and making him have a "cortisol issue."  I also agree about the whole trust issue!  He is such a sweetie & so social; and really needs Mommy when he’s tired, I just don’t want to break that!  My husband has been buffering the last few nights, alternating with me and that seems to help also.  I was coming to a breaking point last week.
