Linda StahlHello,
My 2 year and 8 month year old daughter was diagnosed with CAH. She doesn’t have the salt-wasting or the salt-losing kind. She has been put on 2ml 3X’s a day. She is experiencing terrible mood swings and is violent and yelling. She did this somewhat before going on the hydrocortisone, but it has definitely gotten worse since she is on the medication. Has anyone experienced this in their child? I also notice that her symptoms of pubic hair, acne and body odor have gotten worse. I have discussed this with my doctor and he says it is impossible for the corisone to make her symptoms worse. I have great concern because she is sick right now and so my endocrinologist upped her dose while she had a fever. (She was at .5ml 3X’s a day to start). He said this dose was too small during her fever so he upped it to the 2ml 3X’s a day. He has determined she had this condition from a bone age Xray (which was advanced 1 year), her physical symptoms listed above, and a blood test which showed 17-hydroxilase elevated to 500 (should be less than 90, I am told).
I am just becoming familiar with CAH and I am trying to find all the information I possibly can about it.
If any of you have any information you could share with me about this I would greatly appreciate it. As you can imagine, I am so concerned about her and I just want her to be okay. I can’t stand the thought of her suffering in any way. Any information you could send my way would be wonderful.
Thank you,
Linda Stahl
