AdinaHKenny’s Mom,
I have non classic, I have a nine year old daughter without CAH, a four year old son with SWCAH, and an 17 month old daughter with SWCAH. It was hard at first, but after about six months you get used to it. Then your biggest worries are not CAH related, but have more to do with juggling the responsibility of three children. It’s funny because even our 17 month old yells "meds!" as the first word she says when she wakes up in the morning. I guess she got used to us saying every morning when the alarm went off. Sick season during the winter is a bit tricky, but careful hand washing can help. We just passed around the Norovirus here last week (horrible stomach virus with high fevers and vomiting). One we had to give the shot and take in for an overnight stay at the hospital and the other one did just fine with it and kept the meds down in between nausea. It gets easier also as they get older and have an understanding of what they need to do to stay out of the hospital(tell you they are dehydrating or feel sick or feverish) then it helps alot. It seems like the CAH creates an emotional bond for my younger two. They can commiserate on getting "pokies" (blood draws).
Good luck,
AdinaH
