AdinaHIt always gives an inconsistent temperature. Like for example I would test my older daughter when I knew she didn’t have a fever and it would say she had a temp of 94.3 or 91.2. Then I would test the baby when she was hot (on the same day within minutes) and it would say she had 104.5 (which would be cause for alarm with triple dosing and taking serious action to alleviate the fever) but then if I took her temperature rectally with the old beeping walgreens thermometer it would read 101.2 (within minutes of the ear probe). Let me just say that I don’t know a single baby that will take a rectal temp without giving a yell about it. I would change the batteries and it would remain inconsistent. This happened to the two same brand of Braun ear thermometers which makes me think maybe the atmosphere, elevation or particularly dry climate could hamper the affect of it.
I spoke with my neighbor across the street once and she mentioned the same thing about her ear thermometer breaking shortly after she moved to this city, only hers was a problem with the digital display where some of the portions of the digits were missing on the display. Which leads me to believe that the Braun ear thermometers are more sensitive and can be damaged easily due to weather or extreme climate conditions (like the dry desert I live in as we are in Arizona, but up near the mountains). Who knows? Does anyone else have the same problem with theirs? I am speaking of the huge sub temperatures it gives versus the extra high temps when the child is not really that hot. I thought maybe it could be that I bought the off brand covers (plastic disposable cover for the ear part) and didn’t buy the Braun kind but they look exactly the same so I didn’t think that should cause the problem. Nonethess, considering we need to triple dose above 101, I’d rather get an accurate temperature quickly without having to "wonder" if it is accurate.
Thanks for your thoughts on the Braun though. Good to hear it works for somebody. Hope your girls are healthy and doing well.
