AdinaHJake had a dosage change (decrease) recently and we noticed about the same time that he had an increase in thirst and urination. We alerted his endocrinologist and he had us check his glucose and ketones with the urine test strips and everything came back negative (just fine).
Has anyone else noticed anything like this in their child with a dosage change?
I was wondering if it was something else like a bladder infection, but he has no fever and no pain (except a frequent headache). My second thought was that maybe his body is just adjusting to the new lower dosage and it’s just one of those things that will improve with time. He went from voiding 2-3 times a day to 6-12 times a day now for the past several days. He’s been requesting a drink more often too, and says he wants just iced water.
I checked the archives on the search feature and found one article on it but it was in reference to hypoglycemia which would not apply to him because his sugars are fine.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Adina
