Happy birthday to Carter! 

We have similar stories but Kenny never got the diagnosis.  My hospital has a check at 1 week and he had lost more than 10% of his body weight.  He was 6 - 10 at birth and had dropped to 5 - 9.  We had to go in for daily weight checks also but they never tested his bilirubin.  They just told me to supplement formula with my nursing.  I must have shoved a bottle in his face every second to make sure he was eating - I was so scared.  Needless to say he finally got out of the "scary" stage and they sent us on our merry way.  I live in CA and they don’t do pre-screening here.  I have kept up with the nurse in the hospital who we went to for our daily checks.  I called her last week and told her the diagnosis so hopefully she will be aware and know what to look for if it happens again.
