Ok, now here’s my three cents..... We have lived/been in many states namely Florida, California, Virginia, New York and now Texas and many of the hospitals we have used have also been teaching hospitals. We flat out refused the pre-exams by the residents or "students". They look at you kind of funny at first but they eventually catch on. I think it just stuns them. We are just real nice about it and say no. Its your daughter and you can say no. They can ask me all the questions they want and I will tell them all the stories they want to hear so they can learn but there is no reason they need to "take a quick peek" as they like to call it before the endo gets in there. They can look when he or she gets in the room. Theres no need for two exams. As our daughter got older we explained to her that the reason she comes to the specialist in the first place is so he can make sure everything is working well down there (she was born severly verilized) and he has to teach these other doctors and if he doesnt show them what to do then when he is old and doesnt work here anymore then they cant do their job and help other kids out. She is almost 10 now and so there are really no more "exams" going on with residnets in the room like when she was littler but she now understands why all that happened and isnt traumatized by all those dr’s having checked her out back then. It worked out good for all of us. Atleast so far........Natalie A
