ToniWell I couldn’t be bothered to read past the first couple of paragraphs of Anne-Marie’s letter either - too long winded. I do not understand why if Ashley’s lesson finishes at 12.05pm, he cannot have his tablet then. It is not good for a child to be made to feel different when taking his tablet 5 minutes later, will make no difference to him healthwise but will stop the disruption of the lesson and make him feel less conspicuous and embarrassed.
In the UK you are lucky to find a school which will administer any medication at all. They are not obliged to take responsibility, although some will agree in exceptional circumstances. My son has a home prepared packed lunch at school (his tablet is included in this) and he has always managed to take his midday tablet himself without any intervention from teachers. From an early age he has understood the importance of his medication, has never made a big fuss about it and prefers to be treated the same as any other child. He would be mortified if he had to be hauled out of lessons!
