Aimee,

Thank you for your response.  That is a good perspective.  I was at the pediatrician yesterday with my 5 year old and he had informed me that he just received a letter from our endo.  I told him it had many mistakes in it.  He said, just write a letter with the correct information and bring it to the endo’s attention.  He also told me I should voice the concerns I’m having with him and see how it goes from there.

I feel very good about my instincts on when it is time to go to the ER and when we can handle things at home.  Roberta’s words from when she lost her sweet baby will never ever leave my mind.  It is always better to be safe than sorry!  In fact, my 5 year old was in the ER who was not coping well with an ear infection.  The resident wanted to give her popsicles, my husband and I said, no we think she needs IV hydration, solu-cortef and check out her electrolytes.  The attending then came in and talked to us and said "you know her history better than I do and if you think that is what she needs, we’ll get her taken care of."  Soon enough, the attending came back in and said "I’m so glad I listened to you, she is much more dehydrated than we thought and her electrolytes do not look good."  Mothers and Fathers know.

Anyway, thank you Aimee!  I really value your perspective and opinion!

Take care!
