CarrieI just wanted to share our recent accident with our SWCAH son. He is two, and he and his dad were playing around in the living room--being boys of course. Anyway, my 2-year-old fell on the carpet and broke his arm. I believe we handled it well; we didnt freak out or anythign. My husband was convinced that he was going to be ok, but my mother’s intution told me something was wrong. I wondered if we should give him the injection, but we opted to just go on to the ER. There they looked at me like I was crazy because he was soundly sleeping once we arrived; however, once he awakened they saw why I came. He had a hair line fracture near his elbow. They gave him the injection at my insistence, so I now know I will just give it at home. He has a full cast, and he will have to wear it for up to 6 weeks. He is handling it fine, thank goodness. Also, we upped his meds for two days on the advice of our endo. I also gave him a triple dose before we headed to ER just to be safe.
Just thought I would share this with all of you because I remember when he was a baby how I worried how things like this would affect him. We survived, and it wasn’t a big deal.
