My friend has had her children removed from her home, they are twins with SWCAH. One child (female) who was over suppressed on Dex made an allegation of sexual abuse. This allegation was made over 6 months ago, since then - her medication has been reduced and her levels are more stable. She has been losing weight, a much happier person and has recanted her statement.

Yesterday the CPS called and requested the family to attend a meeting this AM. The children were taken from their mother. CPS wouldl not listen or consider the fact that this child was on a medication that if not monitored correctly can cause an individual’s perception of reality to be impaired.

We know all children should be protected.  There will be a hearing in 14 days but in the meantime the children will be living with strangers. This is outrageous!

I do not know if this child was sexually abused but I do know my 15 year old who has SWCAH has had severe emotional problems resulting from over suppression. I would not want someone without understanding or willing to learn (listen) about CAH and the medications to control it, to judge me or my family.
