Per Sue’s original post, the childs meds were changed. The child recanted her statement. I am the accused father in this case, I am looking at the rest of my life (or a great portion) in prison for her accusation. Please bear in mind, I have all the time line evidence to disprove her claims coupled with the fact I did not nor would not ever stoop to such a level of indecentcy. However, our son made no such statement and was taken from us also. We are really needing to know if ANYONE out there has had or heard of ANY similar situations. Every piece of literature I have read dealing with the side effects of  Predisone, Dexamethasone, and Hydrocortisone all list the same things. Sudden mood swings wide and varied, Psychosis, psychic disturbaces, behavioral changes and the list goes on. Fact is both of our kids had been skipping doses of pred at first, unknown to us (parents). Their levels (17 oh) became high, son not nearly as high as daughter who hit 17,000. Subsequently the doctor put only her on the Dexamethasone for an extended period of months. I believe (don’t quote me) it was about 3 weeks after starting the Dex, she made her allegation. She stated "she was having a great day until lunchtime and just had an instinct to tell someone". I was sent out of the home for 30 days (safety plan). I returned about two weeks after it had expired and my daughter was fine with it, but seemed to be different (not only to me but to everyone). She seemed very harsh and calis to the point of being just plain rude. She was also gainning weight big time. I talked with her Endo about the weight gain and tired and weakness complaints she was making. He dismissed it and said he wasn’t concerned about it. Which I find Strange because ALL the things I have read say to report these side effects to the doctor. CPS will not even consider the fact that our daughter was having medication problems. Our daughters 17oh was checked very shortly after her allegation was made and low and behold it was down to 86! Hmmm maybe ther just might be something to the med thing? In addition she has (according to my wife) Striae (dark purple/red stretch marks) all over her body now from the rapid weight gain. Also suddenly the doctors office called and said take her off the DEX, so we did. Which according to everything I have read, you are supposed to be weaned off DEX. Almost 3 weeks to the day after she was off the DEX, the nice plesant young girl that had once lived with us was back. She has also started to shed the weight and has lost atlest 2-3" at her waist. I am not sure punishing my daughter in any form would be the right thing. I am not sure she realizes what or why she did what she did. After I had returned home she was acting as if she didn’t acknowledge that I had ever been gone.
