re: amount of stress dose

I don’t have much experience as our little one is only 9 mos. old. I can tell you what our endo says, & I know that’s different for everyone (which makes it hard for all of us).  We triple for fevers of 101 or greater.  We were told for those of us w/o CAH, our body produces 4-10x the normal amount of cortisol in times of stress..we do double for diarrhea (w/o other symptoms...)  We were told to give the shot when there is vomiting if he can’t keep another dose of triple cortef down. I think, as many have said here, you know your child & if he’s looking like he’s not himself & has symptoms...we would give him the shot.  Our endo says it will not harm him & is better to be safe.  We’re 25min from the hospital & add that to admitting time, we would give the shot -I think all the parents here who have experienced adrenal crises would say to give the shot.  We were also told we could triple in times of broken bones & such if the child isn’t unconscious (sp?), but I think we’d give the shot to be safe! Hope others can give you better feedback.
