Lack of calcium also causes weight gain apparently.  The two are obviously connected.  Apparently taking up to 1000mg of calcium when on a diet can increase the amount of fat lost.  I started taking calcium last week again due to finding that out.  If cortisol levels are high, then calcium is not absorbed into the body the same so this does cause more fat to be deposited.
