SandraHi Risty,
Well, I definitely think that if I lived in that area she would be my first choice. I live in TX and I have gone to see her twice. I went just a few months after my son was born for a second opinion and then again the following year for a followup. If I had more money and someone to help watch my other kids and help my husband out I would go more often than once a year.
I would say if you feel more comfortable with her then go there. I, personally, really like Dr. New. She was very kind to fly out to our TX Workshop without being paid anything. She is really a smart lady. There are a few things I think she could change such as dosing. She doesn’t feel that 2 times vs. three times is important. Mostly, I think it’s because she is more concerend about compliance which may be an issue for some who don’t really understand CAH.
Other than that, I think she is a wonderful lady and a wonderful doctor. They are very thorough in their testing but like all doctors you have to know your stuff so you know what questions to ask. If you have a chance to ask for an intern, ask for Dr. Su. She is wonderful. Unfortunately, I think her intership or residency is over this summer. I hope she stays on.
You’ll be surprised how different your little guy will look after the cushingoid symptoms start to go away. Acutally other may notice first. I was only gone for two weeks the first time around in NY which was when my son was cushingoid. After two weeks we came home and everyone said it didn’t look like the old little guy. He had lost his cheeks. Looking back at pictures, that’s a good thing. They were puffy!!
Take Care,
Sandra
