Most with CAH take florinef also. It helps the Cortef work better and can hopefully allow for lower doses of Cortef. Salt wasting is a scale of varying degrees of salt wasting. They thought at first that my daughter was not a salt waster but she was on the florinef just in case then her renin started to go up and they think she is a salt waster. But on her records it states, "We are still not confident that she will be permanently a salt waster." Whatever, right? Well, they can tet her renin after she has started the meds to see if they are high. ANd any med that can keep her on less Cortef sounds GREAT to me. My daughter was affected by the Cortef in that she was growing extremely slowly. This can be a side effect of the med. They had her on too high a dose and only 2 times a day, not very efficient. Now she is on LESS 4 times a day and is growing beautifully with good levels of hormones! Good luck with all this. Ask lots of questions! Julia
