Adrenal ultrasound
Apr. 7th, 2003   10:02am

Melissa,

Each year my daughter has a pelvic and kidney ultrasound. I am unsure if they can see an enlarged adrenal gland or not -- I would think there is a good possibility.  They can also be checking to make sure that there isn’t a tumor on one or both of th adrenals.  My understanding is that this can cause CAH symtoms.

CAH got its name from the fact that the adrenal glands are enlarged because they are working so hard trying to make enough corisol.

Congenital: Meaning before or from birth

Adrenal: affecting the adrenal glands

Hyper: working too hard

plasia: enlarged

Best regards,

Janet
