In the context of CAH, I always thought of "simple" as meaning "only" (rather than "easy" or "easy to treat") Therefore, "simple virilizing" meant the type of CAH that caused only virilization (as opposed to salt wasting and virilization.) 

 

I think 11-betas are very similar to those with simple virilizing 21-oh deficiency ...they have the same problems with excess virilization (both males and females), but they generally don’t waste salt.
