SandraWhy do I ask? Well, my 22 month old son just had a bone age done and it showed that my son’s bone age was advanced by 6 months. The results actually said that the observed bone age is approximately 1.5 standard deviations advanced when compared with th expected mean bone age for his chronologic age.
The bone age done before this one, last Sept. was right on. His latest lab results were 17ohp of 1500ng/dl and renin on the high side of normal. So, of course our doctor here in TX has been trying to get my son on florinef forever. I’m hesitant because I see how incompetent the nurses are at taking his blood pressure. Half of the time they just say "Oh Well"! I have heard of too many kids who have problems with blood pressure etc... (me thinking outloud--Yes, I know that the florinef may help keep the cortef down but I wonder if tyring the 3am dosing would make enough of a difference to not have to do florinef)
Anyway, what I wanted to know from those of you that have had many bone age exrays, is 6 months significant or should I ask them to be reviewed? I was actually thinking of telling my endo that I want to try the increase of cortef she put him on first and retest in a month or so before adding the florinef. How often should the bone age then be done to see if the change in dose is having any effect?
Well, I guess this is the first blip in his treatment for me. Here’s hoping for some wisdom from you all.
Thanks,
Sandra
