As long as I take the hydrocortisone I don’t have any trouble with high blood pressure. For a time when I was younger I stopped taking the med, just curious and wanted to see what would happen and that’s when it was found that I had 11-hydroxylase deficiency SVCAH prior to that they thought I had 21. It makes me mad that they never told me about the dangers of not taking the med but instead were just interested in finding out it was 11 and not 21. Thankfully, I read about that on the internet.

I read (skimmed) somewhere that since the 11-hydroxylase is farther along on the metabolic pathway it’s better to have than the 21 in regard to becoming sick. I’m not sure about all this, I multi -task as I browse info about CAH.

Dear Carol:

I’m glad that you get my sense of humor. I wonder sometimes how what I write comes across. Many people tell me that I am a funny person. I believe that a sense of humor is a benefit in dealing, coping, managing CAH     (notice, how I didn’t say suffering  ? : )
