Anne-MarieWhen blood levels are fine 17 OHP is a very neat test for taking profiles to get "each" dose in the day as near as you can get it. But on it’s own, no .... 17 OHP is not a good test to rely on and never will be. If a Doctor is using just this one test to monitor a child or gauge a childs doses, then he is doing a very bad job of controlling that child. 17 OHP is good for using if your child is in good overall control and you want to get each dose just right in the day. You can’t do this when a child has erratic levels, but you can when the child is doing well.
No child should have to go through such symptoms and won’t as long as the Doctor he understands the necessity for a full range of blood tests.
