ToniaHello! I have 2 ssw cah daughters, 5 and 7 years. We got them their medic alert bracelets right off the bat. I think they were both 2 months old when they started wearing them. We put them on their wrists and they quickly just recognized it as a part of their bodies. We, of course, had to order the smallest chain and then take it to a jeweler to have some links taken out. They were all to happy to do it and through the years we have adjusted many times, our jewelers have done this free of charge. Through the years, we have taught them what their bracelets mean and why it is important that they never take it off. I urge all parents to get medic alert bracelets. Even for the babies. You never know when you may be in a car accident or another situation where you will be unable to be your babies voice and make their needs known. My husband is a police officer and my cousin a paramedic. The opinion of most emergency workers is the bracelets are best. They are the most visible and they don’t look like other jewelery. I was also concerned that the necklaces could pose a strangulation hazard. On the ankle, the bracelet may not be as noticeable. First responders are trained to look at the wrist for medic alert bracelets. We had an incident with the paramedics and they immediately noticed her bracelet. Sometimes, minutes count with these kids and you can never take chances. :) Best of luck to you!
