ToniaAllen,
I had a very similar situation involving the severe undersuppression of both of my daughters during the liquid cortef recall. Endo #1 kept telling us that we were not shaking the cortef enough to properly distribute the medication, even though we would pass it around the family to shake it. I knew something was wrong. They were both not acting like their normal selves. He refused to do any blood work on them saying that their growth was just fine so they weren’t undersuppressed. Although at this time, my normally calm and loving oldest daughter was acting very moody and very violent. I called another endo and she agreed to see them, do bloodwork and make any necessary changes. I left endo #1 and simply told him that although I respected him professionally, I could not in good conscience allow him to treat my children any longer, especially with the indifference he showed them. I paid him $500 per visit per child. I really didn’t care if I hurt his feelings or not. This was at a time when there was talk that children were actually dying because of the liquid cortef! I was soo happy when we changed doctors, who put them both on the tablet immediately and within two weeks, they were actually over suppressed! It turned out my oldest daughter actually had the testosterone levels of a 15 year old boy!!!!! No wonder she acted that way. I was only glad that my husband and I acted appropriately on our gut feeling and thought of our children first.
Allen, you have to follow your gut instinct. You could try having a discussion with your current endo letting him/her know what your reservations are and that you did seek a second opinion. This will let the doctor know that you are someone who will take no chances with your children. I’m sure you will get resolution with this one way or another, and it will solidify your feelings. Best of luck to you. I know dealing with doctors is not always easy. Take care and blessings!
