SandraHi Chris,
We also switched to the 3am dosing and are waiting to get my little man’s labs done in about 2 weeks. My endo wanted me to increase my son’s dose to 6.25 from 5mg but I thought I had convinced her to let me try the 5mg and adding florinef, which I didn’t want to do. I thought she had agreed but I got a letter from her a few days later saying that she didn’t want me to experiment with my son’s dose. She didn’t have a problem with me doing the 3 am but wanted me to stick with the 6.25 and the florinef. She also was concerned about me getting up to do the 3am dose. I told her not to worry. I get up to go to the bathroom anyway. So, after doing 5mg for a few days I went ahead a changed it to 6.25 knowing that this will make him oversuppressed. My gut feeling is that after I get his blood drawn I will be able to lower his dose or feel like a fool! I’m hoping that I’ll be right about lowering his dose! Well, I’m his mom so wishful thinking is just what I do!!
I have noticed though that he doesn’t have any appetite. Well, unless his brothers offer him M&M’s or cookies or something like that!! Then again he does like to snack alot. He has cheese and grapes or cantaloupe(his favorite) and whole wheat crakers but his brothers do sneak in the occasional goodie!! It’s hard to tell what is normal for this age and what is caused by over/under suppression. I remember when my now 8 yr old didn’t have an appetite, his ped told me not to worry. He told me that as long as he snacked and had one good meal every 2 to 3 days then he would be fine and guess what....he is !!!!
So, I think that if you try a dose no matter if it’s the same or higher, the key is to retest shortly after to make sure it is a good dose. Waiting for the regular blood draw would be too long. Good luck and I hope the pregnancy is going well.
