JaimeMy daughter is 9 years old and was diagnosed just over a year ago by my NY Pediatrician. He sent us to a wonderful endo at Mt. Sinai who we all adored. We did continue to do our research and found out about Dr. New so also went for the second opinion because with all her knowledge we felt we had to just see what she had to say. Dr. New immediately lowered our cortef dose and for over a year now that lower dose has been keeping our daughters levels right on target.
We decided to stay with Dr. New for several reasons, the first and most important to me has been having the fellows completely and always available. We were first with Dr. Marshall and now Dr. Su. I get a phone call or an email back almost immediatly with answers to any questions I may have. I have also felt the treatment at Cornell is always cutting edge. The doctors are doing everything to keep my daughters growth in check. We have also been included in Dr. New’s protocol so it keeps by insurance battles at a minimum.
I have not burned any bridges and our first endo understood our need to stick with Dr. New. The endo community here in NY knows that most patients eventually with CAH make their way to Dr. New. I have not kept in touch with endo #1 but have referred her to friends who ask for my recommendations , if treatment in the future was in question I do feel I could call her again.
