DNA testing
May. 7th, 2003   9:55pm

My sister wants to test herself now since she is planning to get engaged and she wants to make sure that she and her future husband aren’t both CAH carriers.  She tried to make reservations for this testing to be done, but she was told that until my husband and I don’t test to see which genes we carry they can’t do it for her.   They claim that they don’t know what to look for.  According to my knowledge it doesn’t matter which two recessive genes we have because even if they know what to test for on my sister it won’t help them in testing her husband.  They just need to do a thorough DNA on both my sister and her future husband and test if they both carry any of all the known recessive genes that can cause CAH.  They don’t need me or my husband for that.  Am I not correct?
