Chris DWhen my son (now 5) was about 2 I seriously questioned whether he had CAH. He had never had a crisis, dealt with illness very well, was growing well, and his levels were suppressed while on only 3-5mg/m2/day of hydrocortisone. We had the genetic testing done. It confirmed that he has CAH and my husband and I are both carriers.
Since that time I have come to believe he does definitely have CAH. He has had periods of over and undersuppression and his bone age has been affected (although not too extreme). I haven’t ever read anything that discusses a range of "affectedness" mild-medium-severe, but I really believe that is the case. Our big struggle now is to control his hormone levels without oversuppressing him. We are having a hard time with weight issues.
