I was also told that it is harder to manage patients with diabetes. Although, with the insuli pump it has gotten much better and easier for those with diabetes. My neighbor has the pump now and she says it is a godsend. NO more highs and lows. She still has to do the almost hourly finger sticks and her fingers are all beat up. It was also very difficult for her during her 2 pregnancies. Up all night every 2 hours checking blood round the clock. Very strict diet etc. So to me it seems that the part that makes CAH hard to manage and live with is the lack of awareness of ambulance personnel and doctors. (WEll, this and the fact that some girls are virilized.) WEll, we can help educate these people. Call and meet with your ambulance people. Make sure to leave handouts about CAH and ask about if they carry injection hydrocortisone and/or if they can inject the meds we carry. Good luck. JuliaJulia S
