re: Growth and Dosing

The bone age is checked by getting an xray of the wrist.  It is not an exact science but can be helpful.   Someone qualified to read the xray measures the space between the bones.  The circadium rhythm method of dosing is giving Cortef doses at 3am, 7am, noon, and 5:30pm.  Smaller doses throughout the day can help lesson side effects of the med.  Some side effects are slow growth, weight gain, moon face irritability, and others.  If your children are not having any problems than they most likely are doing fine on their schedule.  We based the amounts on a study done.  I will post it when I am at home.  Good luck!  Julia
