Hi Kelly,

There is an active support organization for guys with hypospadius and their families at http://www.hypospadius.net.  There is another site at http://www.hypospadius.org that also has several pictures on it.

I believe Dr. Howard Devore is involved in the .net org and he is truly a gem in this area.  Your son would do well to look him up and seek out his help.

No matter what your feelings however, you probably should ask your son how he feels rather than assuming it is a problem.  if you are not comfy doing that, maybe his dad or an older brother can bring up the subject?  Decisions about his body need to be made by him, and not by his mom or dad despite how well meaning they may be. Of course, I am assuming that you have told him the truth until now and not trying to cover anything more up.

We also have some guys with hypospadius on http://www.bodieslikeours.org but we are really intended to be a first step in a journey of self-discovery and self-determination so we don’t focus too much on our differences and different diagnosis’

Warmly,

Betsy Driver
