I was diagnosed at birth with the Salt Wasting type CAH and was placed on meds shortly after. I started off with hydrocortisone and florinef and had been taking it up until last year when I read in a article that as you get older your doctor should look into changing your medication options. I had heard so much about prednisone, I asked my doctor if I could switch and he approved. I had been taking the hydrocortisone and florinef for 21 years and switched to the prednisone and florinef last year. It was a change. I didn’t have any immediate reactions to it, until after about a week of using I noticed weight gain. It has adjusted to my body now and as far as I know hasn’t affected my weight anymore, but it definitely lowers my ability to fight of communicable diseases, or in other words weakens my immunity. I have been thinking about switching back, but I am still unsure.Corinna
