Anne-MarieI give Ashley 2.50mg at 5pm and then nothing until 3am and then he gets 5mg hydrocortisone. This mimicks where the proper peaks for cortisol manufacture are in a healthy child. When ill this may change because in sickness irregarless of the time of day the adrenals will make increased amounts of cortisol---even through the night. So in illness it is important to realise that you give the child doses 6 hourly and each dose is exactly the same to help get them over that period of sickness.
