Hi,

As an adult with CAH I can say your child will be able to lead a normal life. I have ( I think) one of the rarest forms. 17 hydroxylase deficiency. I grew up taking Hydrocortisone and estrogen since the 6th grade and I’m still on them. Have taken very good care of myself. Active in sports, lot of friends etc. My parents and Dr’s have helped instill in me a good attitude and I knew I needed the meds to make me feel good because I was quite sick before they found out what I needed. I am now married for 11 years (next week) and have beautiful twins, a boy and girl, 5 1/2 who my sister-in-law carried and we had an egg donor and my husbands sperm. My daughter looks like me and son like my husband.

My only concern as I grow older is osteoporosis but my Dr’s keep a good eye on it and I have bone scans every year. So far so good.
