re: Surgery for Sinuses and Adenoids

Get a second opinion.... maybe a third opinion too.

Do your research on the internet!!!!

My 2 year old (non CAH) has chronic sinusitis. She has already had her adenoids out. We had hoped that the surgery would help reduce or eliminate more infections.  The adenoids were enlarged.  She STILL has chronic sinusitus.

The research I did on the internet was interesting. Seems those surgerys that are more involved than the removal of the adenoids... aren’t so helpful after all and sometimes cause more problems. DEPENDS on the surgery though and why the patient needs it. Sometimes just having the adenoids out is all that is needed.  Sometimes. (smile)

As for the medicine during the surgery.....

My son who does have CAH will be having minor surgery in July. His cortef will be doubled 2 days before the surgery. He will have high doses DURING the surgery in his IV.  Although it is usually a simple day surgery, HE will not go home untill it is certain that he can keep food and fluids down. It may be the same day or the next day.  Once home his cortef will be tripled for several days.

Good Luck!   Sinus problems are hard.
