Hi Sue!  When my son took cortef we used to break his 5mg tablets in half to get the proper dose his Dr. recommended.  And also when his dose changed from 10 mg tablets his Dr. said we could break them in half.  I’m a little confused as to why your doctor wouldn’t suggest that if he preferred using Hydrocortisone.
