Hi Susan!  I’m originally from the Buffalo area so I know more about that area (Niagara Falls), but my husband went to grad school in Seneca Falls (Women’s Rights Movement)  which is about 20 min from Auburn -and so we had some opportunity to explore that region -it’s called the Finger Lakes area incase you didn’t already know that -there are some beautiful (and tasty if you like it) wineries all up & down the Finger Lakes.  There are also some beautiful parks -one in particular in Watkins Glen, but it is all the way at the south end.  I’m not sure for night stuff, I know there is a house boat type tour on the lakes (I think out of Auburn) which we went on w/the school for a private party, but I think they do general dinner ones too -sorry, I’m not much help.  It’s been awhile. -but you could do a search on NY Fingerlakes region I bet & get lots of stuff.  It really is a beautiful area -I miss it a lot.  I hope you enjoy it!
