My daughter has had medic alert since she was probably a month old. She has had 2 different endos, both of whom have stressed the importance of wearing her medic alert bracelet. If, god forbid, you were in an accident and were unconscious, the medic alert could be a life saver for your child. As far as the solu-cortef goes, neither of my daughter’s endos have recommended it. Apparently there are many problems of over zealous parents over medicating their children. Also, the reasoning was that I would always be within distance of a hospital should the need arise. If I lived hours away from medical facilities I would have insisted on it, but as it stands, I am comfortable with their decision. My daughter is 9 years old now and we have never had any situations in which we couldn’t get medical attention for her in a timely manner. One thing that is very important to us is that any care-giver (school, grandparents, etc.) be able to reach us at all times. A cell phone is a must, to be instantly reachable should anything happen with our daughter. I wish you the best of luck with your child...Rachel
