re: Congrats on your new stone deck

Laurel Thatcher Ulrich is a historian about early American history and 2001 Winner of the Pulitzer in non-fiction.  She actually wrote that quote in an article about 17th century funeral sermons.  I thought it was appropriate because last night as the sirens approached, I was laughing to myself that it was a crummy to get one’s 15 minutes.

Well, the stone underneath doesn’t look too good.  Years of neglect has led to quite a bit of crumbling in the mortar or whatever they used.  (the place used to be an old stable that was converted to living space a million years ago---it’s kind of neat as it is a post and beam structure).  Once the deck is removed I’ll be able to get a better handle on the overall condition.
