re: UTI’s and Baby girls without surgery and immunization questions...

Our now 10 yr old SWCAH had her surgery done when she was 18 months old.  She had a vaginoplasty and clitoral recession.  She was severly verilized.  She couldnt even urinate normally and was always onthe verge of a UTI.  She showed symptoms but the tests were always negative so it took a while to figure out.

A second surgery, a uretheraplasty was done at age 8.  We figured since she had the original surgery early on that was all that was needed.  We later found out there was alot of urine backflow into the vagina which caused leakage and was the reason for some pretty severe pelvic pain, that the first surgery was only an attempt to reconstruct what was already there.  She needed a second procedure.

Since having both surgeries she is pain, leak and UTI free.  Everyone is so different.  So many say the first surgery was cosmetic but we think there was so much more to it. We believed the surgery was the absolute best for her and made our decision with her best interest at heart.  We are happy now we chose that route and now that she knows a lot more about her body and condition so is she.  They tell us she may be needing another procedure about the time of menstration but we will see.  This would be to open the vaginal canal for necessary use.  We shall see................
