We have flown several times in the last two years and haven’t had a problem.

My son wears a med alert bracelet and I have carried his meds in a little medical bag - I think it is actually a diabetes kit. Inside the kit, along with the needles and solucortef  I have included a note from his endo explaining his medical condition and the need for the injectible.

The first two times we flew I pulled the kit out and told security all about it. They let us through without delay. The last time, I completely forgot to mention the kit. It scanned through carry-on without a problem. (Although it was my mistake, it didn’t inspire a lot of confidence in our screening process)

I think it is good to be over-prepared, although we haven’t had any issues.
