Sodium level too low?
Jul. 20th, 2003   4:21pm
I just brought my daughter to the ER because we noticed she didn’t urinate as much as she normally does and we worried about dehydration. Her endo cut her Florinef to .1mg from .2mg and Cortef from 7.5 to 5 about 10 days ago since she felt she was oversuppressed. The last time when they did blood work on her a month ago, her sodium level was 138 and her potassium was 5.7. Today in the ER, her solium level was 132. The endo who was on call today said it is on the borderline and it shouldn’t be a big concern since she looks just fine otherwise. He asked us to add more salt to her formula, increase Florinef to .15 for the next day and talk to her regular endo tomorrow. We are back home now. But I am still concerned. Does anyone know how quickly things can turn bad if 132 were a warning sign and we missed it? Her potassium in ER was 7 which was high. But this is because they sticked and squeezed her heels to get the blood. The nurse in the ER sticked her 3 times but couldn’t draw blood from her vein.
