I would be happy to tell you what I know about Dr. Chiaviano and surgery in general. We have an article on surgery that we published in our Winter 2003 newsletter and things to consider that I can email to you if you  email me off board. The 2002 CAH Consensus Statement recommends that the surgeon do at least 3-4 CAH reconstructions per year. So, the relevant question for Dr. Chiaviano is whether these surgeries were done recently and whether he does 3-4 minimum per year. In addition, the CAH Consensus Statement recommends a only one surgery, if early surgery is chosen. It does not recommend doing additional surgeries between early childhood and adolescence. Have you received full informed consent and had all options discussed with you?
