Jean-Pierre LouvrierHi,
My son René, 7, was diagnosed with CAH about three years ago. He’s been taking hydrocortizone daily and his dosage has just been raised. So far, his CAH condition has been "eclipsed" by other health problems he has had - epilepsy, Asperger syndrome, fluid-filled cyst in the brain, synusitis. We are moving to Flagstaff, AZ, for two years and are stocking up his medication to last at least 06 months. We are very concerned that he may run out of it in case we are not able to get him prescriptions. We have considered having it sent all the way from Brazil, if necessary. How does the health system work in the USA in such cases when patients must take their medication daily? Is it necessary to get a new prescription from a doctor whenever we need to buy new medication? I would love to hear from someone in the area who shares the same problem (CAH) and get some advice/orientation.
Thank you.
