To cjd: endos...

Our endo now is Martin Goldsmith. We see him in Tacoma. I have a hot and cold relationship with him. Sometimes he’s really receptive and patient and other times he is condescending. I feel like he’s doing a good job "managing" my daughter for the most part, but I don’t feel 100% comfortable with him and he doesn’t seem to keep up with new information. Since this is an important long-term relationship, and he’s the first guy that came along(he was assigned to us at the hospital), I feel I should check around a little more. I don’t want to give Dr. Goldsmith a bad reputation. From what I’ve heard, he’s a lot more open than many endos in the area. And, I know I’m idealistic. Just after he was somewhat rude about the suggestion of circadian rhythm dosing (saying, "we’ve been handling these kids for years with no problems."), he redeemed himself by putting me in contact with another mom in the Tacoma area.

That said, we have an appointment with Dan Gunther at Children’s in Seattle in September. I’ve heard that cah is his specialty, whereas, I think that Goldsmith deals with a lot of diabetic patients also. Kelly Leight recommended him to me. I’d love to hear anything you may know about him or other endos in the area.

Thanks,
B
