re: Anyone EVER have a school nurse/admin. ever give a Solu-Cortef Injection?

We have never had any experience of that, but we know of one boy whose teacher gave him a cortisol shot once.  He collapsed on a cross country run and luckily the Mother had managed to persuade the teacher on doing the run also to carry the kit.  He gave the shot, and new how to give one but it was debated at the time as to whether he had done the right thing.  The boy was very lucky really to have someone so courageous that he thought to put aside worries about losing his job and just give it.  I think that he did the right thing, but I guess when there are risks to giving injections and it could lose you your job if you cause a reaction or the child dies or becomes very sick that it complicates the matter.  They just need educating IMO as to why it is better to give than not to give.   As for doubling med’s orally, one should be able to have a letter to state that this must be done if the child is ill in their care... and the parent is not around.
