Hair thinning and falling out is common if you are not getting enough meds.  Was this happening before or after you started the dex?  If it is still happening while on the dex, you should tell your endocrinologist.  This same problem happened to my sister when she reduced her own dosage of prednisone to lose weight (within consulting her endo.)  Good luck and take care of yourself!
