Gail M PabstHello,
My 7 year old daughter Michaela just had her 1st vist with endocrinologist and diagnoised with this defect/disorder. I would like any/all information possible on this so I can pass on the information to her caregivers at school (teachers, school nurse, principal, etc). School resumes on Monday August 25th. We noticed she had hair under her left arm the end of May or beginning on June. We found a family dr and made an app’t to see him June 19th, discovered she had some pubic hair too. He ordered wrist x-rays 6/23 I had done that very day. He suspected precocious puberty and wanted to see endocrinolist. Our app’t was for 8/19 but was rescheduled for 9/17. With the long wait to get in to see the endocrinolgist the family dr ordered MRI of head which came back normal. I called endocrinologist office to see if he could order any other tests like blooodwork, ultrasound, etc. Which his office ordered bloodwork on 8/1...got a call last week saying the blood results were in and he wanted to see us sooner. So we saw him today 8/13. He said the adernal gland is partially blocked. He is going to mail prescription to be filled after he figures her height/weight/body mass to prescribe correct dosage. He told us to get a medical alert bracelet for her to wear at all times. If she gets sick or under a lot of stress the dose will have to be increased, etc. We never knew she had a problem until we noticed the hair growth. She’s never missed a day of school and seemed to be very healthy. I’d like to know what may be ahead for us? What to expect in the future? How to explain this condition in terms a 7 year old will understand? What to look for/signs she may need dosage increased? What to tell people responsible for her care at school? Things like that...Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to e-mail me. Sorry for such a long post. Thank you very much in advance.-Gail
